August 02, 2010
Grand Strand Regional Medical Center has scheduled heart health events in August including a CPR Day and heart risk assessments.
Heart risk assessments will be held at HealthFinders at Coastal Grand Mall on Thursday, August 12 and Thursday, August 26 from 10:30 am – 5 pm, by appointment. Assessments are for adults and include an EKG, lipid panel, body mass index (BMI) and risk assessment from a board certified cardiologist. There is a $50 fee. Call 692-4444 for an appointment.
Two community CPR training classes are scheduled for Saturday, August 21 from 9:30 – 11:30 am at HealthFinders at the Coastal Grand Mall and at the YMCA at 62nd Avenue N. Ext.
CPR is open to anyone 12 years of age and older who wants to learn Adult CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver for choking. Participants will learn to recognize four life threatening emergencies in adults: heart attack, cardiac arrest, choking and stroke; and learn to perform CPR in an effort to save victims from these emergencies.
CPR registration is $15; and pre-registration and pre-payment are required. For more information or to register, call 692-4444.
