Hugh Wilson, Jr., Named Interim CEO at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center

Myrtle Beach, SC - Hugh Wilson, Jr., has been named interim chief executive officer at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, effective September 13. Wilson replaces Doug White who retires on September 15, following an 18 year career at Grand Strand Regional. White announced his retirement in July 2013. Wilson will serve in the position until a permanent CEO is hired; a search is underway.
Wilson has over 30 years of management experience with HCA, parent company of Grand Strand Regional. He retired as president and CEO from Doctors Hospital in Columbus, GA, in 2008 after 13 years and previously served as CEO of Lakeside Hospital in Metairie, LA, for six years. Most recently, Wilson has served as interim CEO with Palmyra Medical Center, Albany, GA, in 2011 and 2009.
Wilson earned a bachelor of science degree in pharmacy from Auburn University, Auburn, AL, and a master of science degree in health services administration from the College of St. Francis, Nashville, TN.
