Grand Strand Regional Medical Center Schedules August Health Seminars and Screening

Myrtle Beach, SC – Grand Strand Regional has scheduled three health seminars and one screening at HealthFinders at Coastal Grand Mall. Registration is requested for all events at 692-4444.
Robert Kimpton, MD, will discuss hypothyroidism on Monday, August 13 at 5 pm. Hypothyroidism is a condition in which the thyroid gland does not make enough thyroid hormone, which mainly works for the body’s metabolism.
Joseph Menn, DPM, and Jordanna Baker, DPM, will conduct free foot screenings for children from birth to age 18 on Wednesday, August 15 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm.
Stroke awareness for diabetics will be discussed on Tuesday, August 28 at 3 pm. Grand Strand Regional diabetes educator Denise Wilson, RN, will discuss the symptoms, treatment and prevention of stroke.
Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) will be discussed on Wednesday, August 29 at 2 pm. Grand Strand Regional cardiac educator Debbie Kirkman, RN, will discuss the risk factors, screening and prevention for PAD, which mainly affects adults age 50+. Individuals attending the PAD seminar will have first opportunity to register for free PAD screenings in September and October.
