Sudden Cardiac Death Awareness Seminar on Thursday, January 24
January 17, 2013
Myrtle Beach, SC - Grand Strand Regional electrophysiologist Jason Goebel, MD, will discuss sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) at a free seminar on Thursday, January 24 at 1 pm at HealthFinders at Coastal Grand Mall. SCA is a condition when the heart suddenly stops beating and is often fatal.
SCA can affect anyone. Two major risk factors for SCA are having had a previous heart attack and having a heart that functions abnormally. Tests are available to learn if your heart function is abnormal including checking an individual’s ejection fraction (EF).
Dr. Goebel will discuss who is at risk, EF, signs and symptoms, as well as treatments for irregular heartbeats which can include implantation of a pacemaker or internal defibrillator.
HealthFinders is next to Dillard’s at Coastal Grand Mall and across from Bed, Bath & Beyond. Seminar registration is requested at 692-4444.
