Curriculum and Program Structure

The 60-month clinical program should be organized as follows:

At least 54 months of the 60 months must be spent on clinical assignments in surgery, with documented experience in emergency care and surgical critical care in order to enable residents to manage patients with severe and complex illnesses and with major injuries.

ABSITE is administered every year to all categorical residents and any interested preliminary residents.

  • ICU – 2 months
  • Trauma Surgery – 2 months
  • Acute Care Surgery – 4 months
  • Night Float – 1 month
  • Elective Surgery – 2 months
  • Clinical Elective – 1 month

PGY-2

  • ICU – 3 months
  • Trauma – 1 month
  • ENT – 1 month
  • Night Float – 1 month
  • Elective Surgery – 2 months
  • Emergency Surgery – 4 months

PGY-3

  • Pediatric Surgery – 2 months
  • Night Float – 2 months
  • Acute Care Surgery – 4 months
  • Elective Surgery – 2 months
  • ENT – 2 months

PGY-4

  • HPB – 2 months
  • Night Float – 2 months
  • Trauma – 1 month
