8 weeks ICU - Day and Night Experience
4 weeks Inpatient Surgery- Acute Surgical Service
4 weeks Emergency Medicine
4 weeks Ambulatory Internal Medicine
20 weeks of Electives
Transitional residents can choose from the same electives available to Internal Medicine (IM) and General Surgery categorical residents. Transitional residents will assume the same level of responsibilities as PGY1s in the General Surgery and IM programs while on these rotations.
Available Electives include general surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, ENT, neurosurgery, neurology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, cardiology, nephrology, geriatrics/palliative care, pulmonology, infectious disease, dermatology, anesthesia, orthopedic surgery, trauma surgery, rheumatology, radiation oncology and wound care.
If a resident wished to design an in-house elective that is not available, opportunities will exist to create the elective with approval and assistance from the program director and Performance and Evaluation Committee (PEC).
