The month of May is a busy time for the Grand Strand community and our Trauma Center encourages you to be safe while on the roads.

Here are some tips to stay safe as our roadways become more congested:

  • Look twice! Check your mirrors and blind spots frequently, especially before changing lanes.
  • Be alert! Pay special attention at intersections.
  • Share the road! Treat motorcycles like other vehicles that use a full lane.

Ride Safely

Always ride sober! Safe motorcycling takes balance, coordination and good judgement - all of which are impaired with alcohol use.

Wear proper protection!

  • DOT helmet
  • Face shield/goggles
  • Cover arms and legs completely (ideal fabric: leather, heavy denim)
  • Boots or shoes that cover your ankles
  • Gloves for better grip and hand protection in the event of a collision
  • Bright colored, visible clothing
  • Reflective material
