Our simulation center will provide incredible learning opportunities for our residents. Our simulation curriculum is designed to create a safe learning environment for the residents with the ultimate goal of providing better, safer care for our patients. This is done by using multiple simulation modalities and designing simulation cases with layers of learning models and core competencies designed into each case. Each simulation scenario is followed by a small group debriefing session where participants analyze their actions and reflect on the role of thought process. Faculty that instruct the residents are chosen specifically for the strength of their teaching skills and all have completed formal training in the use of simulation for medical education.

Example of Simulation Cases:

  • Acute Abdomen -- signs/cases and examination findings
  • Acute Hypoxic respiratory failure
  • Pneumothorax
  • Atrial Fib with RVR
  • Anaphylaxis
  • DKA
  • Acute GI bleed from PUD and variceal bleed
  • Hypertensive emergency
  • Opioid overdose
  • Seizure
  • Sepsis
  • Transfusion reaction

  • Central Venous Catheter - Internal Jugular, Subclavian
  • Lumbar Puncture
  • Joint Aspiration
  • Knee Injection
  • Shoulder Injection
  • Bursal Injection
