Grand Strand Regional Medical Center Offers Consult-A-Nurse–24 Hour Physician Referral Service
July 15, 2009
Grand Strand Regional Medical Center will implement Consult-A-Nurse, a 24-hour physician referral service on August 1. Consult-A-Nurse will also provide health information/nurse triage to callers and registration for hospital classes and events. The number is 843-692-4444 .
The Call Center will provide physician referrals to physicians on staff at Grand Strand Regional based on the caller’s search criteria. Callers can receive information on the physician’s education, board certification, office hours, insurance accepted and more.
“Many services can be handled with one phone call,” said Joan Carroza, Grand Strand Regional marketing director. “We have always offered a physician referral service but this enhances our program with expanded hours and services such as nurse triage.”
Registered nurses will provide health information to callers who are seeking information related to their specific health concerns.
“Often times a caller may not know what type of physician to see or whether something is a simple problem or urgent illness,” said Carroza. “Registered nurses will use nationally approved medical protocols to help callers treat the problem or seek professional care outside the home.”
Individuals can also register for hospital and HealthFinders classes and seminars through Consult-A-Nurse. Staff will take reservations, send follow-up letters to callers and provide event information.
